Care & Assimilation Pastor

Full-Time Salaried, Exempt
Hours:
4-day office week plus responsibilities on Sundays. Some evenings required.
Reports to:
Lead Teaching Pastor, with oversight from Executive Pastor
Role Summary:
The primary role of this position is to oversee the care & assimilation ministry of Grace Community Church. This includes leadership development, training volunteers, overseeing counseling, weddings, funerals, baptisms, membership, hospitality and other specific care initiatives. This role requires a pastor’s heart, high empathy, compassion, a passion for hospitality, and the desire to equip others to lead in care.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
Undergraduate Degree in Ministry or Counseling at minimum.
3 years of counseling experience or qualified training (preferred)
Minimum 3 years of leading volunteers to active engagement in local church ministry
Ability to navigate technology and applications
Requirements:
He must be a mature Christian with a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the character of a biblical elder (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1)
He must agree with the faith, mission, and value statements at Grace Community Church
Be willing to become a member of Grace Community church and fully integrate into the community
Work location: Hudsonville, MI 49426, therefore he must reliably commute or relocate
A desire and willingness to pursue continued growth in education, ministry and walk with God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit

Role & Responsibilities:
Care and Counseling Responsibilities: 60%
Provide leadership and influence into cultivating a healthy culture of care at Grace Community Church.
Oversee care process to ensure members are resourced in time of need.
Support specific care initiatives for groups such as Adoptions/Foster situations, single parent, elderly, hospitalized individuals, and those in significant crisis situations.
Recruit and equip volunteers to support the needs of the Care Ministry initiatives.
Oversee the pastoral care & counseling strategy at Grace Community Church.
Recruit and equip lay counselors and marriage mentors.
Oversee resourcing for benevolence needs, weddings and funerals.
Assimilation Responsibilities: 30%
Develop and oversee pathways for new guests to engage fully in the life of Grace Community Church, including baptism, membership, small group participation, and serving opportunities.
Oversight of the first impressions experience at GCC.
Lead the “Next Steps” experience to welcome and connect new attendees to the church.
Ensure systems of follow-up are effective for all guests to provide personal contact and next steps.
Oversee and enhance the Hospitality Ministry to ensure a welcoming and Christ-honoring Sunday experience.
Track member and guest engagement, using systems and metrics to assess progress toward greater participation and spiritual growth.
General Pastoral Responsibilities: 10%
The Care & Assimilation Pastor actively engages in an effective personal ministry to the congregation through teaching groups or classes, hospitality, and discipling.
The Care & Assimilation Pastor does not let his responsibilities crowd out his personal walk and renewal before God. He has moments of personal retreat, prayer, solitude and meditation on God’s Word.
The Care & Assimilation Pastor engages in accountability relationships with the elders of the church and with godly mentors outside the church.
